Hey there! My name is Melissa. I'm a wife, mother, and home & lifestyle blogger based in San Antonio, Texas who aims to help people feel better about their ordinary lives through my blog The Ordinary Home. Every day we look online, on TV, Social Media and see what other people have and end up sad that our lives aren’t like theirs. As much as I love the idea of having a beautiful Magnolia family-like home, having my children be well-behaved 24/7, and having a toned body 365 days a year with a beautiful wardrobe of clothes. I have just come to the conclusion after an extended period of time that comparing other people's lives to mine is not good for my mental health. After having my son and being a stay-at-home mom for the last 18+ months I have a lot of time on my hands. What am I doing with my time? I am currently spending my time scrolling through youtube watching people who have their lives more put together than I do, or so I feel. I know, everyone wants to post the highlights of their life and they have a right to do so. I just wish I saw more people who better resemble my life and to who I could relate. I love seeing homes that looked “lived in”. I love seeing toys in the living room bed sheets that may not match but are very comfortable that you don't care how they look. It brings joy seeing my son wear clothing with his favorite cartoon characters, has his room decorated in whatever hobbies or interests he loves, and not worry about having my children match the aesthetic I'm trying to portray online to the world. I want this blog to be a place where we can all come together and appreciate what we all have and not be sad about the things we don’t. I also want this blog to have a diverse array of fun article topics. I'm a person with lots of interests ranging from self-improvement, self-discovery, raising children, homemaking, personal stories, and other trending subjects. There's something for everyone here, so take a look around!
